    Pastor Brett,

How does R2K justify evangelism outside the church?

On what authority are we to share the truth of the Gospel?

      Jeffrey

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I was not yet given “Top Secret” clearance in order to respond. Today I was vetted for the first time and received my top secret clearance.

I’m pretty sure R2K justifies Evangelism as something commissioned by the Christ to the Church (Matthew 28). The problem though is that their evangelism is going to be a “get your soul saved” evangelism and not an evangelism that speaks to the comprehensive claims of the Lord Christ so that, at least theoretically, they could get a Marxist saved who would never have to leave his Marxsim.

I agree and enjoyed your example, but further, to what degree can man realize his true alienation from God without the personal contrition brought about by God’s law exposing man’s sinfulness? The relevance of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ is stripped of it’s efficacy. The Gospel is portrayed as one of many religious puppies frolicking behind a storefront window. Doesn’t evangelism start with believing what God says in his Word about man? Isn’t conversion,
and repentance, require a turning from sin as much as a turning toward God? The Marxist overtones in this sort evangelism are giving me a headache.

          Jeffrey,

          As to your Questions,

          1.) to 0 degree

          2.) Yes

          3.) Yes

It does seem that many of the R2K chaps have HUGE Libertarian overtones and Libertarianism is just the opposite side of the Marxism coin.

Linked over from Iron Ink. Excellent introduction for those unfamiliar with the R2Kt movement. Waiting no so patiently for the next installment. Following from the eschatological wasteland of Montrose, Colorado.

Thank you Bret, for this podcast. I did not realize you had a podcast until just yesterday. It is extremely helpful because I cannot really read things at work, but can listen to whatever I want.

It appears that the Reformed Baptist Church that we attend is teaching this R2K, but not specifically in name; but certainly in practice it appears that way. I think I have my answer as to why the Pastor never speaks about anything much except for salvation issues and will never apply Bible doctrine to any specific sphere of life.
